Litigation is one of the most powerful tools a nonprofit has, and one of the hardest to use well. Cases take years, demand resources most organizations don’t have, and only create change when the legal strategy stays connected to the people it is meant to serve.

Meanwhile, law firms have talented lawyers and real pro bono capacity, and they are looking for work that matters.

I build the bridge between the two.

Where this comes from

I spent 15 years at a nonprofit legal organization in New York City, where I joined as the first attorney, built the legal and litigation programs, and served as Legal Director and then Executive Director. The litigation I am proudest of started the same way every time: listening to young people and community organizations about the harms they were living with, then building the legal strategy and the partnerships to challenge them.

What I do

Case development grounded in community need. I work with nonprofits and community organizations to identify harms worth challenging, shape the legal theory, and build the record a strong case needs.

Partnerships that work. I match nonprofits with law firms, structure co-counsel relationships, and set expectations so both sides can do their best work.

Strategy and momentum. I keep cases aligned with the mission and moving forward, from investigation through filing and litigation.
